King’s College London Wedding Photographer
It was the first time I had the opportunity to work at King’s College in London. The name alone inspires history and a sense of grandeur… And it is indeed a beautiful venue with it’s own chapel, reception rooms for the drinks reception and a ball room for the wedding breakfast and the dancing in the evening.
Kate sounded lovely when we spoke prior to the wedding and she looked amazing in her wedding dress. Andrew looked incredibly handsome and it was nice to see how two young people from different sides of the pond have come together and are clearly much in love with each other. In order to capture real moments and the subtleties of every wedding, I spend a lot of time observing people, their movements and body language. Everybody was really relaxed on the day and it was clear to see how dear Kate and Andrew are to them.
The speeches took an American format of toasts where a few of the friends and family stood to say a few words about the bride and groom. All very touching and funny, but it still resonates in my mind the emotional speech of Kate’s older sister.. I remember in particular the moment when she recalled how much she had been looking forward to meeting her new baby sister at hospital when she was born, how she had prepared her best outfit to see her and how she could still describe today, which outfit she chose. The love of a family member can be so strong and powerful and it was clear to see how strong the love between these two sisters is and this was certainly one of those moments when as a photographer I had to compose myself and not let emotions take over. A very strong moment in this wonderful wedding.
