A Ceremony at Chelsea Town Hall
I love the variety that weddings bring to my life and to my work. No wedding is the same. Bride and grooms and guests are different and so are the venues that they choose. I like to see how each couple makes their wedding day special and unique to them. Sometimes it is down to what they wear or perhaps a wedding theme. Sometimes it is down to the venues that they choose. In this Instance, Sharon and Pierre had chosen to have a wedding in London, in their home. I think that this was my first experience of Marquee London wedding photography. More often than not, I work at venues, hotels, pubs or palaces when in London. Marquees are seen more frequently in the country side. It was a nice summer day and their marquee had a Moroccan or Mediterranean feel to it. It looked lovely in their garden.
I arrived at their house in the morning just after the bride had finished getting ready. We went directly to the Chelsea Town Hall where their ceremony was taking place. Many of the guests were French and it was a good opportunity for me to practice my French. The ceremony was beautiful and sweet and it was followed by a traditional confetti shower on the famous steps of the Chelsea Town Hall.
A glorious afternoon in the sun
The guests and I took a bus back to the bride and groom’s house. Everything looked amazing, the caterers and wedding planning company hired had done a great job. The guests enjoyed some drinks and canapés in the Terrace before sitting down for dinner. The bride and groom were keen on mainly a documentary approach to their wedding. We only had a very short session to capture some family portraits. The meal was lovely and there were some speeches throughout. There was a very leisurely feel to the day, perhaps inspired by the French traditions. The meal was not rushed and there was a sense of calm and happiness coming from every table. I left the venue shortly after the last speech.
