Wellington Barn weddings

Wellington Barn weddings are gorgeous whatever the weather

The wedding of Gemma and Mark took place at the beautiful Wellington Barn in Calne. It felt like we had the four seasons in one day!  However, such is the beauty of the venue that it did not had much impact on the day or the wedding guests. I started the morning with a few shots of the bride getting ready at a nearby hotel. I then headed to St Mary’s church in Calne, a boutique country church, a short distance from the venue. The guests were transported to and from the Barn in a tractor which was fun. The wedding service was lovely and relaxed. However, as the bride and groom where leaving the church, the heavens opened. I actually quite enjoyed capturing these moments with rain. I tried to create interesting compositions with the umbrellas and with what was going on. It did delay proceedings ever so slightly which was not ideal but I enjoyed the variety it provided me with. As the bride and groom drove the 2 minutes it takes to reach the barn, the weather had completely changed.

A secluded Barn in Wiltshire

Wellington Barn is situated in a beautiful and secluded rural area in Wiltshire. We saw some deer in the grounds of the venue. After a very few family photos, the bride and groom were able to enjoy some time chatting with their friends and family. They were then called in for the wedding breakfast. It was a tasty meal and it was immediately followed by some emotional and thoughtful speeches. I always learn something about my couples during the speeches. Especially when the speeches are meaningful and from the heart as they were in this occasion. After the speeches and some more rain, came out a double rainbow that we quickly used for some pictures of the bride and groom. We then proceeded to the dancing area for their first dance.

This is really the type of weddings that I enjoy documenting. The bride and groom were relaxed and happy and took in their stride the few niggles that sometimes come up on a wedding day. They did not let the weather affect their mood. It was a real pleasure to get to know them a tiny bit and to capture some images for them. Below are some of my favourite images from their day and I really hope that you like them. If you looking into Wellington Barn weddings (or any other venue for that matter), I would love to discuss with you regarding wedding photography. Thank you very much for reading!
