The Old Thorns manor wedding photography – A Tamil Hindu Wedding
I was very excited to document the wedding of Anitha and Sanjay at Old Thorns in Hampshire, in Liphook. I have a lot of experience with Asian weddings, whether it is Sikh, Hindu or Muslim. I love the colours, the ambiance, the excitement and the dancing! It was a gorgeous and long day, with so much going on, that I have found it difficult to summarise this wedding occasion in a few frames.
Wedding ceremony and reception
The wedding day started with Anitha and Sanjay getting ready separately before Sanjay and his family making an entrance in the ceremony area. The sound of Dohl drums is one of my favourite things about Hindu weddings and the excitement of the guests. It just adds some fun from the beginning and everyone gets excited and in the mood for the day. The ceremony was beautiful and in places emotional. It was great to see the emotions of the groom as the bride walked down the aisle (twice) and the ceremony was packed with fun and serious moments too! After the ceremony, we took a few portraits whilst the guests were having lunch and getting ready for the evening reception. The Old Thorns Manor Hotel is based at a golf course and we were able to use some of the grounds despite the cold weather and rain.
The evening festivities started with a champagne reception in one of the many rooms of the venue before heading to the main ballroom area for the evening meal, speeches and dancing.
The Speeches and Party
There is so much going on normally at a wedding but I think that Anitha and Sanjay’s wedding wins for the most activities taking place in the evening! There were some lovely and moving speeches, a musical rendition by one of their nieces, a belly dancer followed by the bride also performing a dance for the groom, then the first dance and the big party! it was so much fun and there was so much to document and capture.
The bride and groom, as well as their guests, made me feel very welcome and it was truly a great pleasure to document their wedding day! Below are some of my favourite images from their wedding day, I really hope that you like them! I would lvoe to hear from you, please leave me a comment at the end of this post!
