I have been working with Hedges Law for the last few years. We capture professional headshots of their staff members and new hires. Those photographs are used for their website, social media and publications.

Firms often see headshot photography as an exercise to “just” have some photos for their website and LinkedIn. Nicola Poole, managing director at Hedges Law sees headshot photography as an integral part of their marketing strategy.

Nikki explains how the turnover of her business increased by 20% year on year and a large part is attributed to the new website, branding and the photographs of their staff. They are receiving higher quality leads which match the services that they offer and therefore increase their conversions. See the full interview below.

I was very much looking forward to being the Oxford Trinity College wedding photographer for the wedding of O & A. i love Oxford weddings, there is something really nice about them. Whether it is the vibe of the city and the colleges, I always enjoy working in Oxford. I had spoken to the bride and groom in preparation to the wedding and I knew that it would be a great day. They both came across as a lovely couple, down to earth and approachable.

My wedding coverage started at the bride’s Hotel where she was getting ready with her bridesmaids. It was a lovely summer day in Oxford, the sun was out from time to time and it wasn’t overly warm. Perfect conditions really for a wedding! I could tell that there was a great relationship between the bridesmaids and the bride. Everyone was relaxed and at ease with each other. Joking, smiling and have a good time. It was nice that the mother of the bride was there also getting ready.

After a while, I left for Oxford Trinity College to take a few photographs of guests arriving and the groom. I love seeing guests arriving and showing their love to the groom. Friends and family, all there because they care about the bride and groom. For those who were not familiar with the college, it was also the opportunity to visit and see such a beautiful college.

A wedding ceremony and drinks reception at the College

The wedding took place at the Chapel, in the ground of the college. It was a lovely ceremony and the priest was very enthusiastic and friendly. It was a shame that I was not allowed to photograph from the front but the bride and groom knew that these were the priest’s requirements and they were happy with that. The Chapel looked stunning, with the addition of lovely flowers to make the colours pop even more. After the bride and groom said their I do’s they left the chapel and we took a few minutes to take a few photos around the quad. During this time, the guests were lining up outside the chapel for a confetti throw. the guests were then invited for drinks and canapésIt was really a nice afternoon with guests relaxing and enjoying the violin music played by one the guests.

Before the wedding breakfast, I went with the bride and groom to take a few photos by a couple of locations in Oxford that were meaningful to them. It was great to see the tourists and crowds reacting to them and congratulating them. On our return, guests were seated and ready to start the wedding breakfast. After the wedding breakfast, there were a few speeches and this was followed by the cutting of the cake.

An Evening Party at Brasenose College

The bride and groom had opted to move venues for the evening party. There was a nice marquee and band set up. There was also a gin bar as well as a hog roast. It all went, from what I understand, exactly as it had been planned. Guests were having fun, whether it was on the dance floor or relaxing outdoors. The first dance was lovely, the bride and groom having prepared a dance to the delight of their guests. I stayed to document a bit of the dancing before heading home.

Their friends and family were also very friendly and I had a great time documenting their wedding day. I was very excited for the wedding for the wedding of  C & F which took place in summer in the centre of London. The bride and groom are a lovely couple with whom I chatted on a few occasions before their wedding day. Their wedding ceremony was taking place at Corpus Christi, a  recently renovated church that meant a lot to them. I was also looking forward to being their Middle Temple Hall wedding photographer for the events after the ceremony.

My coverage started at the church, which is in the middle of London, just off Covent Garden. this area is generally busy but it was the day for Pride and it was even busier and full of life. The groom and groomsmen were at the church early making sure that everything was ready. Corpus Christi looked beautiful as very shortly guests started arriving. They were all elegantly dressed and were welcome by the ushers and the groom. I love the sense of excitement that there is before a wedding! The bride and her bridesmaids arrived perfectly on time in two fabulous vintage cars. Passers-by were congratulating the bride and her family as she made her way to the church. It was beautiful to see and witness!

The wedding ceremony included a catholic mass too. Catholic weddings tend to be longer than others and this was no exception. It was beautiful with many rites and traditions that I had not see very often before. There was a lot of incense too! After the bride and groom said “I do” and the register was signed, the bride and groom walked out to be received by their guest and lots of confetti!

A wedding reception at Middle Temple Hall

The wedding reception took place in a majestic venue in London. Middle Temple Hall is a historic landmark and makes for a stunning backdrop for a wedding reception. It is also only a short ride (or walk) from the church which is also a bonus. I arrived shortly after the bride and groom but before most of their wedding guests. This allowed us to take a few photos around the venue before the bride and groom greeted their guests. It was lovely to be outdoors, it was neither warm not cold, just the right temperature! Guests enjoyed some drinks and canapés outdoors before heading inside the Hall for the speeches and wedding breakfast. The bride and groom had organised a receiving line. A receiving line is ideal for couple who want to make sure that they at least say a quick hello to every one of their guests. It did allow me also to catch some interactions between them which was lovely.

The main Hall at Middle Temple is simply stunning and the caterers and venue staff made a great job and making it look spectacular for the wedding breakfast. The bride and groom had chosen to have their speeches before the wedding meal. I have mentioned this in previous posts but I have seen this more and more often in the last few years. It is great in my opinion as it allows speakers to relax during the meal. The speeches were lovely and not too long which was ideal as guests may have been hungry by then. Grace was also sang by friend of the couple.

A great wedding in the centre of London

After the wedding meal, we took a few photos outside before proceeding o the first dance. The bride and groom did a fantastic job of it, they look naturals in the dance floor! I then stayed for a bit longer to capture a few shots of guests dancing before saying goodbye to the bride and groom.

It was a lovely day and I really enjoyed working with such a lovely couple. All my interactions with C & F had been very pleasant. They are a caring couple who made sure that I was well looked after. The friends and family were also very friendly to me which always makes it a bit more special. The bride and groom are clearly well loved by their friends and family and it was beautiful to see how close they were on the wedding day. Botley’s Mansion is a great wedding venue set in Surrey. I was very excited to be the Botley’s Mansion wedding photographer for the wedding of H & A. I had met the bride and groom and my home studio a year before their wedding. I realised very quickly that they were a lovely and genuine couple.

Botley’s Mansion is an elegant wedding venue. The setting is beautiful and the interior is very grand. The bride and groom were looking forward to relaxed photography that would blend the elegance of the venue with images that would remind them of friends and family having fun.

The morning started at the venue with the bride and groom getting ready. It was busy, both the bride and groom having many friends and family getting ready with them. I love it when it is busy as there is always plenty of things going on and therefore plenty for me to photograph. The bride was having fun with her friends and the room was full of grown ups and babies. Both providing entertainment in equal measure! After some time, I headed over the the groom’s room to take a few photos of the boys getting ready.

A beautiful ceremony and drinks reception

Everyone was very relaxed and it was great to see guests arriving and enjoying some time before the ceremony took place. It was a civil ceremony  in the Grand Atrium, an impressive room able to accommodate a large number of guests. The bride and groom said their “I do’s” and then lead their guests outdoors for a confetti throw that was then followed by a drinks reception in the lawns of the venue. It was a fairly warm day, but there were many drinks available for guests to cool down and some areas of open shade.

The drinks reception lasted around 90 minutes before the guests were invited back into the Grand Atrium for the wedding breakfast. I am always impressed at how quickly they can turn the venue around. The decor looked fantastic. I took the bride and groom for a few photos before they were announced in style.

The wedding breakfast was a lovely three course meal and it was followed by speeches. They were all meaningful which is extremely important to me. I love to hear the memories from a father about her daughter, the groom about his bride and how they met and the best man about his best friend.

A wedding in Surrey to remember

After the meal and the cutting of the cake, the guests had some time to relax in the garden. The venue has a separate area for dancing which is very useful too. I took the opportunity during this time to take a few photos of the bride and groom. There was a also a throwing of the bouquet which proved to be very fun. Guests were generally enjoying catching up, playing games and relaxing in the sun.

It was then time for the first dance which was beautifully performed by the bride and groom. H & A are a genuine and lovely couple and it was a real pleasure to capture their wedding day. they are warm, friendly and made me feel (and everyone else) very welcome. It was such a pleasure to document their wedding day and I look forward to keeping in touch with them. The groom is a very skilled carpenter and the bride and groom crated their own Mr & Mrs signs for the wedding that you see on this blog. I was looking forward to document the wedding on A & W. I was excited to be the Harbour Hotel wedding photographer for their special day. It was my first time working in Bristol and I was very much looking forward to it. I spoke to the bride and groom on a few occasions leading up to their wedding. It was their warmth and friendliness that impressed me the most. Both very down to earth. Caring and interested. Excited about their wedding (of course) and very eager to share the day with their friends and families. Chinese weddings are lovely but full on. The wedding f A & W was no exception, and I loved it.

Traditions at a Chinese weddings are very different to other weddings that I have documented. The day starts often at the bride’s house and the groom arrives to meet his bride. However, before being allowed in the house, the bridesmaids request payment from the groom and for the groom and groomsmen to play games. Those games can be fairly innocent but sometimes pretty “challenging” too. Luckily, the bridesmaids were very fair and the games were actually funny and everyone seem to enjoy it. Eating some wasabi was perhaps the worst it got, which is not too bad in my opinion. The groom is then allowed to enter the house and needs to find the hidden shoe for his bride to wear. This was not problem for W who found it in record time. It was then time for the tea ceremony with the bride’s parents before heading into Bristol city centre for the rest of the festivities.

A city centre wedding at the Harbour Hotel in Bristol

The Harbour Hotel in Bristol is beautiful and bang on in the centre of town. It has many separate areas. On arrival, the guests (mainly the bride and groom’s close family and wedding party) were invited to a small room for the remaining tea ceremonies, This is an important tradition. This was followed by a small bite to eat while the bride changed into her white wedding dress. We took the opportunity to take some photos before guests arrived for the wedding breakfast.  It was served in a gorgeous room that had been beautifully and tastefully decorated.

The bride and groom were announced in and there were a couple of short speeches before everyone tucked into a lovely three course meal. The mood was relaxed, with people mingling in between courses and children running around and playing, Then, the bride and groom and their families went round each table toasting the guests. At this point some guests left while others arrived for the evening party. After a change of clothes, it was time for the first dance which was beautiful. The bride and groom had obviously rehearsed it and it was greta to watch.

It was a beautiful city wedding with two of the loveliest people that I have met this year. Independently of the wedding venue, the outfits, the weather, etc.. it is generally the bride and groom and their attitude that will make a wedding successful. A & W were so nice before and during the wedding day and it was clear to see how much their families and guests cared for them. Wasing Park is a gorgeous wedding venue, whatever the wether or the season. I enjoy winter weddings as they have their own charm. Wasing Park also offers a variety of rooms and areas that make it a great wedding venue for cold or rainy days.  I had met C and C on a couple of occasions at my studio. We went over their plans for the wedding day and it was great to know them before the wedding.

Everything took place at Wasing Park which was great, there was no need to travel between venues. I started capturing a few photos of the boys. They were very relaxed and there was a good ambiance in the room. I then headed over to the bridal suite to capture a few photos of the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready. As per the boys, they were all in great spirits and having fun!
Because of daylight and timings on the day, I had suggested that we took some portraits of the bride and groom before the wedding ceremony. The plan was for the bride and groom to see each other anyway before the ceremony and this worked well for them. This meant that they would have more time in the afternoon to be with their guests with still some day light.

A ceremony in the Garden Room

Shortly after I took  a few portraits of the bride and groom, it was time for the main event of the day to take place in the Garden Room. The ceremony was simply yet beautiful and included two readings. It was also great to see the children of the bride and groom bring forward the wedding rings. After the “I do’s”, it was time to head outside for a confetti tunnel before heading back in for canapés and drinks. The weather was not too cold but there was a little bit of rain, which meant that guests were happy to stay indoors. It was great to see people having fun and catching up over a drink. We took some time also to capture a few family photographs before heading for the barn and the wedding breakfast.

The barn at Wasing Park, especially in winter looked great. The red bricks with the candle lights made it look really atmospheric and it is a great place for the evening reception. After a lovely three course meal, the speeches took place. They were all lovely and heartfelt and it was great to see the bride taking centre stage too, something I see more and more often.

Partying the night away

After the wedding speeches, guests were invited back to the garden room for coffees while the experiences staff at Wasing Park turned the room around for the dancing. In addition to the first dance, there was a lovely moment with a street dance group performing for the bride and groom. One of the dancers was the son of the bride and it was great to see him perform.

I really had a great time capturing the wedding of C & C, a really down to earth couple. They were so keen to make sure that their guests had a great time and they surely achieve that. Houghton Lodge weddings are simply beautiful. The Houghton Lodge wedding experience is fantastic. From the beautiful setting, to the historic house it all leads to a fabulous setting for the wedding day. N & W were very excited for their wedding day. They had chosen a venue that they loved and they were looking for a relaxed day of fun with family and friends.

The day started with a little bit of rain that  had N worried but it cleared very quickly and had totally stopped by the time that the bride made it to the ceremony. The morning was peaceful, busy with the bride getting ready with bridesmaids and family members. Everyone was very happy and the excitement was palpable. The venue has cottages on-site where the bride and groom and families can get ready and spend the night before or after the wedding. It is a lovely set up with everything in one place.

The wedding ceremony took place in the main house, which is the residence of the owners of the venue. It is a great place and it look great. The ceremony was a civil one. It was beautiful and included two readings. After the ceremony and a confetti run, guests were invited to the walled gardens for the drinks reception

An afternoon in the sunshine in Hampshire

By the time the bride and groom and guests were enjoying their prosecco (and beers and other lovely drinks), the skies had partially cleared letting the sun in. The bride was delighted and added to the magic of the day. It was a relaxed afternoon with guests mingling and enjoying the gardens. We had a some time to take family photos too before everyone headed down the hill to the marquee for the wedding breakfast and reception.

The marquee is by the river and it is a beautiful setting with the house still visible in the distance. The speeches preceded the meal. It is something that I am seeing more and more often at weddings which is great as the speakers can then relax during the wedding breakfast. The speeches were all fun and meaningful. The bride did a speech at the beginning also which is great, this is another trend that I am seeing more of and long may it continue.

An evening of dancing and fun

The speeches were followed by the wedding breakfast. After the meal, we went to take a few portraits around the wedding venue before the bride and groom returning to the marquee for their first dance. It was a beautiful moment with guests joining in at the end. The bride and groom asked me to say for the evening celebrations and it was great fun to see everyone dancing to the music of the live band. A few guests stayed outside instead enjoyed the last rays of sunlight and chilling by the river. It was a really good wedding!

This wedding is the sort of wedding that I really love to document. A lovely couple, fun to be with and clearly very much in love with each other. The guests and their families made me feel very welcome and I really had a great day with them, it was a lovely experience and day for me. I had heard of Herons Fram before as it is fairly local to. It is in the country of Berkshire, where I live, but I hadn’t documented a wedding there to date. I was very happy that R & A had chosen me to be their Herons Fram wedding photographer. The bride and groom both live abroad. They travelled back home a few days before their wedding and I met them at my studio. It was always nice to get to know my couples before their wedding day. They were very excited about their day and looking forward to celebrating with the friends and family.

On the day, I arrived early at the farm to take a few pictures on the bride getting ready with her bridesmaids and mum. The venue looked great. It is a working farm with over 100 horses dotted around the vast property. It was nice to see horses being taken care as I parked. The bride and bridesmaids were in the main house. It was busy but joyful, everyone was very calm but lots of laughter. The bride had organised for a nice car to take them to the church. Her dad was waiting for her as she came down the stairs looking fantastic in her wedding dress.

A lovely service at St. Mary’s church in  Upper Woolhampton

The service took place at St Mary.s, a catholic church literally next door to Douai Abbey. It is a beautiful setting and the priest was very friendly and welcoming. It was lovely to see guests arriving in what was a glorious day. The sun was out, the sky was blue and although it was warm, it wasn’t overly hot. There were many children around, which is also great to see at weddings.

The bride arrived perfectly on time and flower girls (and pageboy) and bridesmaids were there waiting for her. The service was beautiful, not too long but with many songs and readings. It is nice ti see people involved during the service. At the end of the service,  the bride and groom left the church to be welcomed by some confetti. We took a few family photos there, before heading back to the Farm

A glorious afternoon at the farm

The rest of the events took place back at the farm. The farm offers ample space for guests to sit outdoors and walk around the venue. There are also some green areas where kids and adults alike can play. And the kids and adults in attendance took advantage of it,. It really felt like a good day out where families get to hang out and have fun. I was even roped into the hula hoop game, although i was pretty bad at it!

After the drinks reception, we headed into the barn for the wedding speeches and the wedding meal. The speeches were really nice and they were followed by a lovely meal. Guests spilled outdoors and enjoyed more of the sunshine. The owner of the property took the bride and groom around for a little tour of the property so we could take some nice portraits.

On our return. it was nearly time for the first dance. Everyone was having so much fun and there was so much to photograph that the day went very quickly for me. After the first dance was over, I stayed for a bit longer to capture some more of dancing.

It was a really relaxed and beautiful wedding in gorgeous surroundings. The staff at the venue were amazing and so were the guests. I felt very welcomed by everyone and had some lovely conversations with some of the guests fa family members. R & A were incredibly friendly, attentive, caring and relaxed. I genuinely had a great time with them and I hope to see them next year when they return to the UK.

Cantley House is a lovely Hotel and wedding venue based in the outskirts  of Wokingham. I was looking forward to being the  Cantley House wedding photographer fr the wedding of M & J. I met up with them a couple of weeks before their wedding at my studio. They were very relaxed about the wedding.  They wanted it to be a special occasion for all of their guests and family. The venue in itself is very relaxed and looked great n the day. It was only a few days after Christmas and the decorations were still up n some places.

My day stared capturing a few getting ready photographs of the bride. When I arrived, everyone was in god spirits and I could feel the excitement. Some guests had flown in from the far east, just for the wedding. I am sure that some may have been jet lagged, but there was no visible evidence of it. Everyone seemed on forma and ready to celebrate. After a while, I popped down stairs to capture a few photographs of the groom final touches and welcoming guests. The ceremony was fairly short yet beautiful. One of their friends played the violin beautifully and there was also some emotional singing from one the bride’s family members. After the “I do”s” and the first kiss, we all venture outside for a confetti throw. Given the time of year, it was a tiny bit cold. We took a few essential family photos and portraits of the bride and groom before heading inside for drinks, canapés, mulled wine and cheese!

A Christmassy Reception

The wedding reception took place indoors as it was fairly cold due to the time of year. Cantley House is a spacious wedding venue and has a variety or room that can be used. Guests were enjoying each others company and it was a relaxed drinks reception. There was room for everyone who chose to sat down. It was great to see people mingling and chatting together. After a while, everyone was invited to move into the barn for the wedding breakfast. The barn had been beautifully decorated and looked great. Speeches took place before the meal. This is something that I am seeing more frequently. I think that it is great to have the speeches before hand. Speakers are then more relaxed and can fully enjoy the wedding breakfast. Three courses were served before the guests were given some free time as the barn was turning over for the evening party.

A tea ceremony and first dance

The bride changed into a lovely outfit and a tea ceremony took place in the main lounge at the Hotel. It is great to see different ceremonies and celebrations that celebrate people’s backgrounds and cultures. After the ceremony, it was time to go back to the barn again for the cutting of the cake and the first dance. The first dance was lovely, the bride and groom had practiced a routine and they delivered it perfectly on the day, it was beautiful to watch!

NHS Staff Discounts Wokingham

A very wedding that I attend is unique for many reasons. Every guest and every couple are unique with their own traits, personalities and backgrounds. The venues that they choose for their wedding are also chosen carefully to match the vibe and atmosphere that they want to create.  T & M had chosen to have a Farm wedding. M works for a company that has a barn in a working farm that can be used for events.  The owner of the company very kindly agreed for T & M to use it for their wedding. As venues go, this could easily be a fully working wedding venue. It is in fact more often than not used for training and corporate events. The bride and groom  (and their families) did a great job in decorating it and making it look beautiful for their wedding day.

My day started at the bride’s family home. The bride and her bridesmaids were getting ready. I enjoy capturing these moments as they are always fun and it allows me to get to know people before the ceremony. The bride was very calm and everyone was in good spirits. The sun was shining which was great. After an hour or so, I left for the wedding venue. Everything looked immaculate. The barn is a modern barn, very bright and with beautiful grounds around it. They bride and groom had chosen to have a humanist ceremony. They are usually great as the bride and groom can customise it to some extent to suit their personalities. The bride arrived on time and everything ran smoothly. There were two nice readings from the mums and a hand fasting ceremony. After the ceremony guests were invited outside for drinks and canapes.

An outdoor drinks reception

One of the highlights, in terms of the wedding venue, has to be its outdoor space. Especially on a nice and warm sunny day. The temperature was just perfect, warm but not too hot. Great for enjoying drinks outside. The grounds include a lake with ducks swimming in it. It all contributes to making the ideal setting for a lovely afternoon. After a confetti shot, the bride and groom milled with their guests. I loved seeing people having a good time together. From parents with their children to old school friend reunited. We will use some of this time for a few selected family photos and a few portraits of the bride and groom as guests find their seats for the wedding breakfast.

The wedding breakfast was carefully planned. It has a barbecue style, with the food cooked outdoors. Guests were also able to sample some nice shots of sloe gin prepared by the mother of the bride. It seemed to go down very well! The wedding breakfast was followed by some short, yet meaningful speeches. Guests were then allowed some free time to roam around the venue and relax.

A fun quartet band

The evening entertainment was provided by a really good and fun band that had people on the dance floor even before the first dance. They were very energetic and played tunes that made everyone want to join them on the dance floor. The first dance followed after their first set. The dance included some lifts and it they were very well executed. The guests joined the bride and groom on the dance floor and the party was well on its way when I left.

They were very friendly and fun and clearly very much loved by their families and friends.
