Botley’s Mansion is a great wedding venue set in Surrey. I was very excited to be the Botley’s Mansion wedding photographer for the wedding of H & A. I had met the bride and groom and my home studio a year before their wedding. I realised very quickly that they were a lovely and genuine couple.

Botley’s Mansion is an elegant wedding venue. The setting is beautiful and the interior is very grand. The bride and groom were looking forward to relaxed photography that would blend the elegance of the venue with images that would remind them of friends and family having fun.

The morning started at the venue with the bride and groom getting ready. It was busy, both the bride and groom having many friends and family getting ready with them. I love it when it is busy as there is always plenty of things going on and therefore plenty for me to photograph. The bride was having fun with her friends and the room was full of grown ups and babies. Both providing entertainment in equal measure! After some time, I headed over the the groom’s room to take a few photos of the boys getting ready.

A beautiful ceremony and drinks reception

Everyone was very relaxed and it was great to see guests arriving and enjoying some time before the ceremony took place. It was a civil ceremony  in the Grand Atrium, an impressive room able to accommodate a large number of guests. The bride and groom said their “I do’s” and then lead their guests outdoors for a confetti throw that was then followed by a drinks reception in the lawns of the venue. It was a fairly warm day, but there were many drinks available for guests to cool down and some areas of open shade.

The drinks reception lasted around 90 minutes before the guests were invited back into the Grand Atrium for the wedding breakfast. I am always impressed at how quickly they can turn the venue around. The decor looked fantastic. I took the bride and groom for a few photos before they were announced in style.

The wedding breakfast was a lovely three course meal and it was followed by speeches. They were all meaningful which is extremely important to me. I love to hear the memories from a father about her daughter, the groom about his bride and how they met and the best man about his best friend.

A wedding in Surrey to remember

After the meal and the cutting of the cake, the guests had some time to relax in the garden. The venue has a separate area for dancing which is very useful too. I took the opportunity during this time to take a few photos of the bride and groom. There was a also a throwing of the bouquet which proved to be very fun. Guests were generally enjoying catching up, playing games and relaxing in the sun.

It was then time for the first dance which was beautifully performed by the bride and groom. H & A are a genuine and lovely couple and it was a real pleasure to capture their wedding day. they are warm, friendly and made me feel (and everyone else) very welcome. It was such a pleasure to document their wedding day and I look forward to keeping in touch with them. Cain Manor is a bijou wedding venue set in a secluded area in Surrey. As you arrive to the venue, you find a lovely country house surrounded by private land. It is a beautiful spot, especially on a sunny day. K & M were incredibly lucky with the weather. It was a little bit overcast. But dry and the right temperature. For these reasons, Cain Manor wedding photography is great as there are so many areas to photograph and it all looks immaculate, whether indoors or outdoors. I actually met with both the bride and groom the day before in London. I documented their religious wedding ceremony at their family church, just around the corner from where K’s parents live. It was intimate and beautiful.

On the main wedding day, I arrived at Cain Manor to capture some shots of the preparations. I really like seeing the venue being transformed. K & M had chosen beautiful flower arrangements that adorned the venue. There was lots going on, with people getting ready in different rooms and guests arriving. Everyone seemed fairly relaxed and there was lots of energy around the place.

An emotional celebration

The bride and groom has retained the services of Jenny Knight (Knight Ceremonies) for their wedding ceremony. They wanted a ceremony that represented them and who they are as individuals and as a couple. I really enjoy these ceremonies as they are very meaningful and designed for the couple. The bride and groom exchanged their own vows which were very emotional and personal. I find it emotional as the person documenting these moments and I think that everyone else in the room felt the same way. It was beautiful and one of my highlights from their wedding day.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks outside, accompanied by the sound of a Sax player. It is great to see people milling around. Meeting new people and re-acquainting themselves with old friend or distant relatives. We took some time to take some family photos and then a few portrait before sitting down for the wedding breakfast.

A wedding breakfast and speeches

Speeches too place before the meal. This is a “new” tradition that I see more and more frequently. I like it personally as it allows for the speakers to relax and enjoy their meal. The speeches were fun and meaningful. It was nice to hear both the bride mum’s and dad do a joint speech. They also walked down their daughter down the aisle together which I felt was lovely and would love to see more often. Speeches are great for me as it gives me a good insight on the bride and groom. You learn some new things about them! After the speeches, the food was served.

After the meal, it was time for guests to enjoy some more time outdoors. Some played crocket, while some other just enjoyed chatting and walking around the grounds of the venue. For the bride it was time to go for a change of wedding dress. Both her dresses looked fantastic! We took a few portraits of them in the new dress before they headed down the stair for their first dance! I left shortly after and left them to enjoy the night away with their friends and family!

Intimate ceremony the day before the main wedding day

It was a typical end of winter, beginning of spring day. It was mild at times, overcast and a tiny bit of rain arrived also in the evening. But all in all, a very pleasant day for the wedding of K and R. My day started at the bride’s parents home. Everyone was very relaxed and in good spirits when I arrived. I had a little chat with the guests on arrival and I was offered a lovely cup of coffee. It is nice to start slowly and I found out that they had visited Peru as a family (I am originally from Peru), so it was great to hear that they had a good time there.

The bride was fairly ready by the time that I got there but it was still nice to capture a few photographs of everyone getting ready. Everyone was on time and it went all smoothly. The venue, Hampton Court House, was only a few minutes drive away. I made sure to arrive before the bridesmaids and the bride to capture a few images of the groom and the guests. It is lovely to see people arriving, old friends and acquaintances  meeting again after some time. I love the genuine smiles and hugs that I get to witness during this time.

The bride arrived in a lovely vintage car, something I know that she had been looking forward to. I wanted to capture a photograph of her arriving at the venue in that lovely car and capturing the setting of the venue. The weather was dry although a tad windy. Inside, everything looked beautiful and warm for the wedding ceremony.

A lovely afternoon at a historic venue

The wedding ceremony was beautiful. There was a piano player playing before, during and after which gave a lovely feel to the ceremony. It was great to see the smiles on both the bride and groom as soon as they saw each other. After the ceremony, the guests were invited downstairs for the drinks reception. It was a very bright room and with ample space for guests to mingle and catch with each other. In particular, I liked how much space there is at the venue. There are separate rooms for all the key sections of the day, which means that there is no need to turn rooms around.

During the drinks reception we capture a few family photos and portraits of the bride and groom, before heading into the wedding breakfast. The room was very impressive and beautifully decorated. After the meal, it was time for some speeches. There were a few different speakers, but all speeches were meaningful and not overly long. After this, it was time for the cutting of the cake and then finally some dancing. The bride and groom were not keen on a first dance as such, so guests just started dancing when the band started playing. I left shortly after having had a lovely day and witnessed a beautiful wedding.

They were all very friendly and easy to get on with, which made it also very pleasant for me. Hampton Court House Weddings

Hampton Court House is a gorgeous Georgian mansion set in Surrey, inside the M25. It is surrounded by 9 acres of beautiful 18th century gardens. Hampton Court House works as an independent school during the week and host beautiful events at the weekends. The venue has stunning architecture and lots of space for you to plan a fairy tale wedding.

The venue is ideally situated with access to the main airports for your international guests. The venue has separate areas for the drinks reception, ceremony, wedding breakfast and dancing, so this means that everything is ready without needing to turn rooms around.

In summer, the gardens are available for beautiful photos and for your guests to enjoy. I genuinely recommend giving this beautiful venue a visit if you are planning your wedding in Surrey.

Every wedding is different! And this is exactly what I love about  this job! I love the fact that I get to witness weddings at some many different locations, with different themes and elements. It was a first for me documenting a wedding at an alpaca farm wedding and I loved it! I am convert alpaca farm wedding photographer! Being originally from Peru, I loved the fact that there would be many alpacas around on the wedding day! R & M had planned a relaxed wedding day. The alpaca farm belongs to one of their parents and it was great to have the wedding in such an intimate place. It required a lot of effort and preparation, but the results were great! The church was also within walking distance from the farm, so everything was very local. They had planned their wedding breakfast in a yurt, which also added to the rustic, yet elegant feel for the day.

I arrived on time to capture a few shots of the guests getting ready before heading for the the church to get some shots of guests arriving. It was a jovial atmosphere. It was a very hot and sunny day and everyone looked elegant and colourful. The bride arrived a few minutes later with her bridesmaids and was walked down the aisle by her dad. Both the bride and groom looked beautiful and happy. The service included two beautiful alpacas coming down the aisle bringing the wedding rings! Certainly not something that I see every weekend.  After the service and a confetti run, the bride and groom walked the alpacas back to the farm and all the guests followed.

An afternoon basking in the sunshine

The drinks reception took place in the house lovely gardens before heading up to the fields were a beautiful and stylish set of yurts awaited the guests for the speeches and wedding breakfast. It was a gorgeous settings amongst pens with alpacas all around the yurts. A truly memorable experience. The speeches were before the meal. I am finding this a more common occurrence at weddings. I think that it is great, this way the speakers can relax and enjoy their meal! After the wedding breakfast, guests spilled outside and found games to play to the sound of an acoustic guitar player and signer. It created a bit of a festival atmosphere with kids running around and other guests enjoying a drink at sunset. Evening guests arrived and the first dance took place inside. I stayed to capture a bit more of the evening activities and party before heading home.

I was looking forward to the wedding of Lyn and Chris and being the Pennyhill Park wedding photographer for their day. Pennyhill Park is based in Surrey and it is a beautiful wedding venue. It sits in a beautiful area including a Hotel and golf course. I’ve been lucky enough to play there, a lovely course if you get the chance to play it! Back to Lyn and Chris, I started documenting their wedding day at Bray’s church. It was a day when the weather would not make its mind up. Sunshine then rain then sunshine again…  It was a special day as it was their wedding day and also their daughter’s baptism. The day started with a slight delay but as soon as the bride arrived everything went smoothly.  Despite my silent shutter on my cameras, I was not allowed to document the wedding from the front. I do prefer that position as I can then capture the bride and groom’s faces and their guests in the background. However, the vicar has his rules and I welcomed the challenge to document the day from a different angle. The baptism followed straight after the “I do’s” and it was a fairly simple ceremony. After the service, the bride and groom left the church for the wedding venue.

A lovely afternoon and dancing

The sun came out slowly as the bride and groom arrived to the venue. It came out just in time to allow the bride and groom and their guests to enjoy some of the outdoor space that the venue has to offer. It was a relaxed afternoon and a fairly intimate wedding. Only close family and friends had been invited and there was nice pace to the wedding day. After the drinks reception, the wedding breakfast was ready. During this part of the day, I do not tend to spend too much time documenting this but I try to capture a few frames to tell the story. Speeches followed the meal. We then took a few minutes to capture some portraits of the bride and groom before their first dance.

It was a lovely day and I really enjoyed meeting  Lyn and Chris and their guests and family. It was a beautiful day and everyone was very friendly and easy going. I was looking forward to be the Cain Manor wedding photographer for the wedding of Lucy and James. Cain Manor is part of the Bijou wedding venues. I had the opportunity to work at their other venues but this was my first time here. Lucy and James were very relaxed prior to their wedding day. The day started for me with bride getting ready nearby before arriving to Cain Manor for her final preparations. There was an air of excitement, perhaps a few nerves. Everyone was fairly relaxed though. The setting at Cain Manor is beautiful and the weather was nice also!

The ceremony took place in the main barn. It was a civil ceremony and was fairly short and it included a couple of readings. After a confetti shot, it was time for canapés and drinks. Everyone enjoyed being outside catching up with each other. During this time, I enjoy capturing people mingling and grab a few shots of the wedding breakfast room. It is also during this time that I will capture a few family photos and a couple of portraits of the bride and groom.

Speeches and the evening party

After the meal, it was time for the speeches. They were all original and personal to the couple. I love seeing how people come with different ideas during this time. You can see the real true emotions during speeches and they are one of my favourite parts of the day to witness and document. After the meal, there was some down time before the first dance. The couple asked me to stay to capture the evening fun which was great fun!

Botley’s Mansion wedding photography is just awesome. The venue is amazing and has so many rooms and areas that as a photographer, I am always excited to work there. Mercy sounded lovely when we chatted before the wedding and I was looking forward to document her wedding to Tom.  The weather was variable in the morning but it ended up being lovely all day. Both Mercy and Tom were getting ready at the venue. This gave me a chance to capture a few shots of both of them before the ceremony. They were both relaxed and excited, perhaps a tad nervous but happy! The ceremony was lovely and sincere. Drinks were held on the main hall and outdoors. There are so many areas at the venue were people can go, it offers a variety of backdrops and backgrounds.

A wedding full of laughs and hugs

If you have followed by blog for some time, you will know that I love hugs, real and honest hugs! The wedding of Mercy and Tom did not disappoint. The bride and groom seem to have such a strong bond with their friends and family. Everyone was hugging with each other, laughing and being happy to be with each other. I love speeches and I learnt a lot. About their close friends and how they still keep in touch despite living in different parts of the world, making sure they have at least some virtual conversations a few times a year. It showed how close they all are. After the speeches, it was time for some dancing. I love capturing dancing shots. The dancing is also a time were you can see raw emotion, which I love. Shortly after the first dance, I took the bride and groom for a couple of night portraits before heading home.

Texas forever

There is an excellent TV series called Friday Night Lights (must watch if you haven’t) and the football players say Texas Forever, meaning that they would always remember and be true to Texas where they are based and play. Whilst, there was a strong American influence from the bride and her guests, I doubt that they were from Texas. But their strong friendship made me think of this series. Whatever they did and wherever they went, they seem to have a solid and strong bond which was so beautiful to see and is bound to last for a long time.

I arrived early on the day and you could sense the excitement in the air as the brides were getting ready, guests were arriving and waiting for the ceremony to start. Both Sarian and Ellie looked beautiful in their wedding dresses. The ceremony was fairly short and sweet, including a couple of lovely readings. It was then time to enjoy the lovely weather that graced us in May with drinks and canapés on the lawn with the gorgeous backdrop of the castle. I love drinks receptions as old friends re-acquaint themselves, people hug and kiss each other and everyone is in great spirits. The guests made their way into the castle for the speeches and wedding breakfast which was delicious. Some more time for guests to chat over coffee was had afterwards before getting ready to dance and party.

I really enjoyed documenting this wedding and I am incredibly lucky that  couples that want to work with me totally understand the nature of reportage photography which is focusing on moments and real emotions. And this is exactly  what Sarian and Ellie wanted and I was able to capture some natural images for them that will hopefully remind them of their fantastic day for years to come.

The day was full of laughter as a wedding should be. Guests enjoying themselves, the newly married couple chatting away to family and friends and everyone having a lovely time. The mini golf course was a huge success and it was great seeing everyone having fun with it!

Botley’s Mansion is an elegant and beautiful venue for a wedding. It brings elegance, beautiful grounds and great service. And it was the perfect venue for the wedding of Alex and Stuart, an international wedding where England meets Australia! 🙂

Both Stuart and Alex live in Australia now and we had not had the pleasure of talking before so it was a pleasure to meet them at Botley’s mansion a a couple of weeks before their wedding to get to know them a little bit and talk about the big day. They were looking forward to both families and friends from England and Australia to meet on the day and have a great day. They were keen on a reportage coverage of their day but with a very few formal groups and some portraits too.

The day started at the venue where both bride and groom were getting ready. The ceremony was short with two readings and the the guests enjoyed the front of the house during the drinks reception. The weather was glorious and the British contingent on the day were proud to show that in England, the sun shines also from time to to time!

The meal was beautiful with speeches in between the courses that were generally very funny and also very emotional. After the meal, there was some down time also before the first dance took place and the evening party got started. I left shortly after the first dance when the party was in full swing!

I enjoyed capturing the day for Alex and Stuart, a lovely couple, very friendly and considerate! Below is a selection of my favourite images of the day.
